We are so blessed as Christians, God has literally given us everything to have full joy and happiness in Him. Still though we often face difficult trials and hard times in life. Im sure you can think of a time in your life when you were greatly challenged and needed comfort. Family and friends are always great to have around for comfort when dealing with a tough time, but its amazing how God always provides for us. I recently started reading through 2 Corinthians and came upon this passage in chapter 1,

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

As sufferings and hard times abound on us, and we are tempted to get down and lose our joy in Christ God tells us that His comfort will abound.  The word abound gives the idea of overflowing, exceeding more then needed and thats how it always is with God. He does not give us a taste or just what we need, He loves us so He overflows us with comfort in trials.

I think to often we forget what we have in Christ. It’s always right there for us to claim, He wants us to have it to use it for His glory.
